MLA Jordan Kealy joined voices today with many concerned constituents, industry leaders, truck drivers, and CEO of the IBCA, Chris Gardner, in demanding a timeline for the long-overdue Taylor Bridge replacement.
"When steel is cracked, welded, and cracked again, it does not return to its original strength. In fact, it creates more stress points; which is stated in the reports obtained by the ICBA after they waited 9 months for an FOI request of inspection reports from 2020-2025 of the Taylor Bridge," states MLA Kealy.
"We now know that the Taylor Bridge has cracked steel being welded and re-cracked. This can only happen so much to steel so many times until critical failure occurs."
Question:
Why is this government continuing to patch a structurally compromised, declining bridge, and will this Minister commit today to finally replacing the Taylor Bridge, yes or no?
