In Question Period, I raised concerns about decisions being made in our healthcare system without proper consultation or regard for the people most affected.
I asked the Minister of Health why the Saplings program in Fort St. John is facing cancellation. Saplings provides essential support for at-risk youth in our community, and the loss of a program like this would have serious consequences. I made it clear that I was prepared to work constructively with the Minister to identify a solution that keeps this program in place and ensures young people remain protected. Ultimately, this resulted in a confirmed extension of the Saplings contract.
For me, healthcare reform begins with paying attention to what communities, patients, and frontline workers are telling us. When programs are not working or when decisions create harm, the government has a responsibility to respond directly and correct course.

Question Period - Saplings Program
In this clip, I question the Health Minister about the potential cancellation of the Saplings program in Fort St. John, which provides critical support for at-risk youth. I highlight the lack of consultation with the community and offer to work toward practical solutions that protect these essential services. I am committed to ensuring healthcare decisions prioritize the people most affected and resulted in the confirmed extension of the Saplings contract.
Healthcare reform must start with listening to communities and protecting frontline services, not cutting programs without understanding local impact.
I will continue to press for accountability and practical solutions that keep essential healthcare supports in place.
