In a recent Question Period, Peace River North MLA Jordan Kealy raised urgent concerns in the Legislature about the ongoing crisis facing Old Fort residents.
As Kealy put it, this is not a new situation—it’s a repeated failure to address a known issue affecting families in the community.
“This is now the third time families have been displaced.”
Residents have once again been forced from their homes after the latest landslide cut off the only road in and out of Old Fort, leaving many in limbo with no clear timeline for resolution.
Kealy pressed government on the lack of action and long-term planning:
“Where is the action? Where is the plan to make sure this doesn’t keep happening?”
The situation has left families dealing with uncertainty, displacement, and the inability to return to normal life. Reports indicate the landslide has significantly shifted the roadway and continues to pose safety risks, with no timeline for stabilization.
Kealy has emphasized that simply reacting to each disaster is not enough:
“These people deserve certainty. They deserve solutions.”
Options such as infrastructure investment, a new access road, or even property buyouts have been raised—but residents are still waiting for meaningful progress.
To hear directly from those affected and discuss next steps, a townhall has been organized:
📍 Location: Multipurpose Room, North Peace Cultural Centre
📅 Date: May 13, 2026
⏰ Time: 5:00 PM
This meeting is intended for Old Fort residents impacted by the landslide to share concerns, explore options, and help shape advocacy moving forward.
