In committee and in the Legislature, I have consistently raised concerns about legislation that increases costs for taxpayers and families across British Columbia.
Time and again, the NDP government has brought forward bills that expand spending, create new obligations, or layer on additional bureaucracy, all of which ultimately drive up costs for people who are already stretched. Many of these bills are being rushed through committee with limited scrutiny, leaving British Columbians with little clarity about what they contain or how much they will cost.
My role in committee stage has been to slow that process down, ask the hard questions, and put the financial consequences on the record. I have pushed back against legislation that shifts costs onto taxpayers without clear benefit, proper planning, or transparency.
Affordability does not erode overnight. It erodes one bill at a time, through higher taxes, higher fees, higher compliance costs, and policies that make everyday life more expensive. British Columbians are feeling that pressure, and they deserve to know where it is coming from.
I speak up on these issues because I live with the same costs and pressures as the people I represent. I am not removed from the consequences of these decisions. I am affected by them, just like everyone else. That perspective matters, and it is why I continue to challenge legislation that makes life more expensive without delivering real value.

Bill 31 - Energy Statutes Amendment Act, 2025
In this clip, I explain why I voted against Bill 31, raising concerns about legislation that expands government authority and spending without clear limits, definitions, or cost transparency. During debate and committee review, I questioned how these new powers could increase costs for taxpayers and ratepayers if exercised without proper scrutiny or accountability.
Affordability is lost gradually. Each added cost makes life harder for people already stretched. Transparency matters so British Columbians can understand where the pressure is coming from.
I will continue to slow down rushed legislation, ask the hard questions, and challenge policies that make life more expensive without delivering real value.
