I asked David Eby a direct question. He has publicly acknowledged that the federal controlled substances exemption was a mistake. I asked whether, in light of that admission, he would act to remove it. That question was not answered.
What concerns me is a pattern where problems are acknowledged but left unresolved. Meanwhile, families, and communities continue to live with the consequences.
Community safety depends on government being willing to act when policies are clearly failing. When harm is recognized but allowed to continue, trust erodes and risks increase. This is why I will advance these issues in the Legislature.
Questioned the Premier on the controlled substances exemption
Pressed for action after public acknowledgment of harm
Highlighted the lack of follow-through
Question Period - Drug Exemption, Drugs & Crime
In this clip, I question the Premier directly about the controlled substances exemption after his public acknowledgment that the policy has caused harm. I press for concrete action, asking whether the government will move to remove an exemption it has already admitted was a mistake.
The refusal to answer highlights a broader concern: problems are being acknowledged without follow-through, while communities continue to bear the consequences. This exchange reflects my commitment to pressing the government for clear decisions and accountability when public safety is at risk.
Question Period - Ending the Federal Drug Exemption
In this clip, I follow up on the Premier’s public admission that the controlled substances decriminalization exemption has not worked. I ask a straightforward question: if the policy is failing and causing harm, why is the government refusing to end it?
The exchange highlights the gap between acknowledging harm and taking action. It underscores my ongoing efforts in the Legislature to push for accountability, clear decisions, and policies that actually protect public safety and restore trust in our communities.
When harm is acknowledged but allowed to continue, trust erodes and risks increase for families and communities.
I will continue advancing community safety issues and pushing for policies that protect people, not just admit mistakes.
